Completed pROJECTS
VA Electric enjoys working on a variety of projects. Here are some that we’ve recently completed:
Grand Canyon Havasupai Gardens HVAC Improvements Project
This included a service upgrade increase to 1400 amps, rough-in and power for two new rooftop mounted HVAC units, as well as controls and minor electrical improvements. The project presented some unique challenges, as our crew members had to hike five miles into the canyon to get to the work site. Once there, the crew lived in a tent during the workweek.
Lincoln County Medical Center
Ben E. Keith
We are lending our expertise in building Ben E. Keith’s new distribution warehouse on Albuquerque’s west side. This massive 260,000 sq. ft. facility has most of our electricians up high in lifts running conduit and our layout technician, Javi, doing great work with our Trimble robot from down low.
Marie Hughes Elementary School
We installed all electrical wiring, lighting, and systems for a new 86,000 sq. ft. school building with a one-story Wing A and two-story Wing B. The project included associated site lighting and a 161 KW photovoltaic system.
Grand Canyon Havasupai Garden
We've returned to the Grand Canyon for our third project below the rim! This time around our job is to supply power to the pumps and systems that facilitate water delivery to the entire Grand Canyon Village on the South Rim. The commute to this job-site includes a four and a half mile hike down the Bright Angel Trail to Indian Garden. If you look closely, you can see two white roofs in the cluster of trees between the two mesas in the photo!
THE "U" Project, Unm
In the early 20th century the University of New Mexico was known as the “U”. In 1922 a 10-foot-tall “U” was placed atop Hodgen Hall to promote school spirit, where it became a beacon until the mid-1930’s. In 2012 VA Electric was proud to be selected as the electrical contractor chosen to light up the new 12-foot-tall, 3000 pound bronze “U”. The new “U” is lighted with state of the art LED color changing fixtures which have over 16.7 million color options available.
Sandia Mountain Natural History Center
This Albuquerque public school has been the place for many of Albuquerque grade schoolers to come and visit, including some of our employees. We were happy to contribute to the facility so that future students can come and enjoy the mountain air just like we did.
